I Spy With My Wicked Eyes…

Updated: Jul 10, 2021

Hello my darling fellow kinksters!

Seeing as how the pandemic is probably driving us all a lot mad at the moment, I figured I would take some time to write about one of my favorite things to explore and experiment with – Pervertables!

Some people have heard about them, many have unknowingly used them, and there are others who have no idea where to start or simply need some more inspiration. They are very common and usually very accesible. Even both beginners and seasoned kink veterans can use them or discover more! So, what are pervertables?

Put simply, they are mundane everyday objects given the kinky treatment! Many people have heard about the use of scarves for bondage or a wooden spatula for some spanking good fun. However, there are so many more things out there waiting to be given a newfound purpose to add some extra fun. Plus, being everyday objects means you probably already have at least some variety laying around to choose from and get inspired by. Most people will have something laying around their homes that fits into the kind of play they want to experience. This site, for example, lists 5 pervertables you probably already have on hand with each one fitting into a different possible kink such as clamps or figging. Meanwhile, this site features pervertable ideas from each room in your house to get your kinky scavenger hunt started! It can even be a fun activity or bonding experience to share with kink friends, partners, or others interested in diving into this topic to see what stands out to each of you, what creative shenanigans get inspired, or simply how many you each can find. Didn’t find enough? Well, well, well. Where’s that hairbrush “paddle” you found? Time to test it out!

With that said, some words of caution when using pervertables. Since these items are designed for a different purpose in mind, do be careful and keep an eye on the condition since they may break easier, faster, or in unexpected ways. Some people like pain, but there is a difference between pain and pain plus the risks associated with those unintentional breaks. Don’t be afraid or shy about practicing to test out the limits to find out what it can take and how it might look when that limit is reached.

This brings me to another point – affordability. It can be very intimidating seeing people at events show up with a menagerie of implements when you’re starting out. The process of discovery can also lead to questions or issues about cost, which can feel prohibiting from getting started on a new kink. It’s also very tempting seeing certain items available but for prices that seem daunting if you’re still figuring out if this is actually a kink for you or your partner – especially if you’re just starting out and getting that rush to dive in and get all the things to do all the things. Trust me, I’ve been there and I know how much it pulls at your mind, body, and wallet! And if you are doing an edge play that may lead to contamination risks for your toys, it’s also nice to have supplies on hand to take care of those moments like baggies that can easily be kept in your bag to separate the contaminated toy.

The nice things about the variety of options is that you can probably find something that suits your style as well as your needs. Sometimes that means something that sets the mood up just so from a boutique style kink shop that is worth it because of how the colors, textures, and look appeal to your budding collection. Sometimes it means that you just need something that is simple to fill more of the need than the look so that’s where pervertables can help. Found something around your home? Great! You didn’t really have to spend anything and your toy collection has now increased! Missing something to try out or feeling an itch to explore a kink but don’t want to or cannot invest just yet because it’s so new? Go vanilla.

No, seriously. Go vanilla but with kinky eyes. There are a variety of stores that offer up items just waiting to be turned into your next delightfully dark adventure!

Hardware stores are great for finding ropes cut to as much or as little as you need (usually they can help prep the ends, too, so that it prevents any fraying). You can also find rods to make a rig or something to tie onto (not necessarily suspension, since that would require a whole different skillset and investment to be safe). If you are handy, though, perhaps that can open up the hardware into a bigger playground to explore for you whether it’s building a sensory play box or engineering your own contraptions for predicament play!

Not quite into the hardware options? Try your local crafting or dollar stores. You will find an endless supply of ideas and materials to create your own toys and uses! Sensory play is just waiting to be explored with crafting feathers to cause a tickle or two. Captivate the senses with sleeping masks or scarves for blindfolds – or some sensual bondage with pretty, soft, and easy to buy in bulk scarves. Candles can also be a cheap find to get into wax play, as long as you pay attention to the type of wax to prevent burns. There are also cheap options for clothespins to use as clamps, saran wrap for a whole lot of things (not kidding, it is astounding how versatile that is!), coloring supplies for those into ageplay, cute pet supplies and toys for pet play, lotions for body works type of stuff with massages and such, bamboo skewers to poke or scratch, markers to cover someone in words or arrows, cozy blankets or stuffies for aftercare, and so much more! You could probably even find a nice bag to gather your newfound toys in for easier transport or storage.

Don’t think it stands up to the more expensive stuff? For the most part, it most definitely can hold its own. Now, certain things definitely need that bigger investment for safety and durable quality such as floggers, whips, and other things that run more risk if not made properly. For most other things, though, pervertables can do just the trick.

It’s not about how much it costs and, sometimes, not even about what it’s made of. It’s about how it’s used. The veteran kinksters with the large bags or even multiple bags of toys all started somewhere. They experimented with different toys, spent little, spent a lot, earned or were gifted toys, gave some away, fell in love with a kink, realized a kink was better off staying in their mind, and so much more. In fact, they might still be discovering new pervertables themselves as they continue their own journey and discover new kinks or partners to try stuff out with!

One of the hardest things I have noticed, especially at the beginning, is the comparison game. But it’s not a competition. It’s an exploration, a discovery, a journey. Take your time to explore and find what works for you, what doesn’t, and what you maybe need more time to learn about. Another bonus about pervertables is that it makes practice more affordable until you feel ready to invest in a higher quality or simply to have something to practice on (for instance, cheap pillows, towels, etc. to check accuracy of floggers and whips) until you feel ready to take that next step.

New or old or somewhere in between, pervertables help extend a kinky hand to many (if not all) of kinksters on their journey.

Do you have any pervertables you use, perhaps without having realized it? Any you feel inspired to try? I hope this post helped get your kinky mind going. Stay safe, ask other experienced kinksters or mentors if you’re not sure if something is a safe pervertable, and don’t be afraid to tap into your creative side! Have fun giving mundane things a new purpose!

As always, much love ❤

Miss Lunissa
